Blender Grid Fill is a useful tool to fill hole or make quad faces with selecting the edges. When we are using fill hole, we always get the N-gon face, but if we use grid fill to fill hole, we can be fast to get the quad faces to fill the holes. Below example is filling the hole with grid fill, step by step to show show we can use grid fill. Hope this helps.
Blender Grid Fill Tutorial
1. We use a cylinder to be example. Select the cylinder and go to edit mode, and then select the top face.
2. Delete the top face to get a hole.
3. And then, we can select the edge loop.
4. Go to Face, and choose Grid Fill
5. We got the grid fill face, that is quad face. To open the menu at the bottom left corner, we can have option to adjust the span and offset the grid.
