We can follow below steps to make feather edges of video in After Effects
1. Import a video footage into After Effects, and add it into composition as a layer
2. Go to this video layer, and right click to choose New Mask or we can use shortcut Ctrl + Shift + N to add a mask
3. In video layer, open Mask 1, we can adjust the value of Mask Feather to make feather edge of layer
4. Also, we can reduce Mask Expansion to make the edge faded out into background
