Blender delete material tutorial shows how to remove unused material slots and delete material from list. We can follow these steps to delete material from scene,
1. Go to Outliner on the Right Side of Viewport
2. Change Display Mode to Blender File
3. Under Materials, select the material
4. Right Click and choose Delete
